About me

My background is unconventional; my life-experience a serpentine path from the epic to the mundane and back. In business, my experience spans a range of industries from tobacco farming in Cuba to lunar landers at the Jet Propulsion Laboratories in Pasadena; from international Fortune 500 consulting to an international wholesale/retail enterprise; from running manufacturing operations in Los Angeles to gold-running in the Amazon. I have been a one man operation as well as the CEO of a publicly traded corporate subsidiary. Ten years ago my business exploits expanded my horizons beyond the Americas to incorporate business in Asia.

I'm highly attuned to the global currents that sway the popular culture and weave their way through every aspect of daily life. I've built large companies from scratch, launched brands and organized social movements. I can reach the street as well as figure out how to get the right doors to swing open.

I am backed by a stellar team of exceptional strategists, marketers, designers, web programmers, researchers, lawyers, accountants, statistical analysts, business process engineers, food technologists, import/export brokers, venture capitalists, bankers, and many other extraordinary specialists.

I am also backstopped by an amazing set of mentors and advisors. One advisor to me is Dr. Malcolm Currie, former Under Secretary of Defense, Chairman and CEO of Hughes Aircraft Company, regarded as the father of GPS and DirectTV, and currently on the University of Southern California Board of Trustees. Another advisor to me is one of Warren Buffet's weekly bridge partners and colleagues.
